Kids and Cardboard Boxes

May 19th, 2011 by zoe No Comments

There is a special magic with kids and cardboard boxes.  A big, big love.

Okay first a disclaimer,  I had nothing to do with this particular project.  Emmett and Oliver found this box in the basement, got very excited about decorating it and then told me it was a costume.  Now mind you, I did suggest several times that it looked a bit SMALL for wearing but they were unimpressed by my suggestion and carried on faithfully with their mission.

The box is so crazy narrow they had turn their heads sideways to get into it,  claustrophobia anyone!

Best Mother’s Day Gift – Sleep!

May 10th, 2011 by zoe No Comments

I am mother to two rowdy, enthusiastic, vibrant, and  loving four-year old twin boys. They never cease to amaze, overjoy and exacerbate me with their love and childish lunacy.

Each and every day they approach the little things in their world as BOYS, something far more identifying than I would have ever imagined.  I have learned to expect the unexpected, respect their need for physical fatigue, understand that more than 10 minutes of quiet means they are making a giant mess and accept as fact that nothing they desire can be placed high enough to thwart their ambitions to get at it.  (Did I really leave that purple nail polish on the mantel??)

Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined  the bumps and curves on this wild ride, this life with boys.

It is a special job – mothering twins, most days I feel lucky, most days I also feel tired!

To mothers  everywhere,  I hope you had a grand Mother’s Day – I hope you got plenty of  sleep!

Any flower that dares to bloom in our yard WILL soon become a bouquet for Mama – tiny vases are kept in the window just for holding  all those sweet sweet gifts of violets, dandelions,  and daffodils!
